Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as well, Blossoming on Collision--Light in Space
2016
In this interactive installation that fills an entire room with projected video images of the cosmos, a crow of light dashing around in all directions performs the role of a spaceship, offering viewers a floating experience as if they were really swimming through space.
This crow is actually Yatagarasu, the three-legged crow from Japanese mythology seen also as the embodiment of the sun, and who guided Emperor Jimmu all the way to Kashihara in Yamato. Multiple manifestations of the crow go swooping and soaring past the viewers' heads, sometimes colliding to make colorful flowers representing life itself burst open, thus symbolizing the energy of the Sun that is the source of all life on Earth.
