Maman, the huge bronze spider that took up residence in this neighborhood in time for the opening of Roppongi Hills in 2003, has several white marble eggs in its belly. Maman has become a symbol of Roppongi that welcomes many people. This sculpture is currently being exhibited in six locations around the world, but the one here in Japan wears special shoes to protect it from earthquakes. Did you notice?
Maman is displayed at six other locations around the world in addition to Roppongi Hills, Tokyo.
