MACHINE LOVE Workshop to Explore the Boundaries of Imagination and Creation with AI (Two-day Program)

MACHINE LOVE Related Program
Conducted in Japanese

The rapid progress of technology has not only brought significant changes to society but has also transformed the creative practices of artists. Many of the artists featured in Machine Love exhibition are proactively incorporating generative AI and game engines - tools traditionally used in game development - into their artistic practices. These innovations have opened up entirely new possibilities for creation. In collaboration with Yokoi Masaru (ExMetaClub), who explores themes of boundaries and metacognition through XR and AI works, and Anthropic, a leading company in natural language AI, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to experience AI and digital tool-powered creative processes firsthand.

Participants will begin by imagining what their digital avatars look like in a virtual space. Using AI tools, they will create alternative versions of themselves or their ideal selves, transforming these avatars into characters within a shared narrative with other participants. This collaborative process will culminate in the visualization of the story through images and videos, deepening the creative experience. By engaging with AI and collaborating with others, participants will explore the limitless potential of creativity in XR environments.

Through this workshop, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of cutting-edge artistic practices, discovering both the opportunities and challenges they present. This immersive experience will offer a glimpse into a new era of artistic expression, where technology and creativity merge to reshape the boundaries of imagination and creation.
