Theaster Gates Related Program

Visit the Mori Art Museum with your children, and join other families to view the Museum at your leisure before the official opening time. Excepted mothers and their families are also welcome.

* Please note that the Museum will be open to the general public from 10:00.

This program will be held twice during the exhibition period. In order to allow more people to participate, please apply for only one session.

From pre-school children through elementary school students (ages up to 12) accompanied by their guardians, expecting mothers and their families.
Information for the Day of the Program

[#1: Saturday, July 20, 2024]
● Museum staff will be hosting gallery tours. Please come to the entrance hall of the exhibition directly if interested for each tour. No prior application is required to participate in the tour. * both tours conducted in Japanese

9:15- Tour for elementary school students
9:40- Tour for parents (you are welcome to bring preschool children)

● On the day, we will hold an “Afro-Mingei Family Hour.” Mori Art Museum staff will appear as a DJ in the DJ booth, which is also a part of the exhibition. The DJ will play the music with a focus on the Black music that is familiar to parents and children.

● Organist Tsuchida “Hal” Harunobu will play the Hammond B-3 organ in the installation work A Heavenly Chord (2022) featured in this exhibition.

* When visiting the Museum, please hold hands with small children for their safety.
* Babies in prams and frontpacks are welcome, however, some exhibits may have less lighting and/or feel too narrow. Please feel free to ask for assistance as our staff in the galleries will be happy to assist you.
