Upcoming members' event: MAMC Night, Tuesday, 19 January, 2010
With behind-the-scenes talk, "The Queen's Da Vinci Comes to Town!"

The next MAMC Night, a series of events held exclusively for MAMC members, will feature a tour of the exhibition and also a special discussion about three of its highlights: Leonardo da Vinci anatomical drawings, which are being shown in Japan for the first time.

MAMC members would have heard of the term "conservator." But did you know how diverse that museum member of staff's tasks can be? The conservator is of course responsible for the conservation and restoration of artworks, but their job also extends to monitoring the temperature and humidity of the galleries to stop the artworks from deteriorating, dealing with the tiniest of insects that may have been introduced during transportation, determining the safest methods for exhibiting artworks, monitoring the condition of the museum collection and so on. At this MAMC Night, Mori Art Museum conservator, Aizawa Kunihiko provides a behind-the-scenes look at the process by which these three priceless Leonardo da Vinci drawings made their way from their home in Britain to the galleries of the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo. Don't miss this opportunity to get an insight into the inner workings of the museum and the art world!

In addition to the behind-the-scenes talk, Hirose Mami (project manager, Mori Art Museum) will conduct a tour of the exhibition.
