Against a backdrop of byobu screens and Buddhist figures from his personal collection, the artist discusses his early experiences in photography, purchase of his work by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the ongoing evolution of the Enoura Observatory in Kanagawa, which is the culmination of his work.

Artist Talk “MY WORK” – Tatsuo Miyajima
In this interview with Tatsuo Miyajima at his Ibaraki studio in September 2020, Miyajima discusses the circumstances around art in 1988 when he first came to international attention through his participation in the Venice Biennale, as well as his current endeavor, Sea of Time - Tohoku, for which he aims to install 3,000 LED counters permanently in the Tohoku region of Japan, including what prompted the project, and the views of those taking part, in his own words.
